The Guildford Post is an independent site for the borough of Guildford. The decisions that change a place are usually recorded in committee papers, decision notices and fee schedules that few people have time to read, so we read them and report what they mean.

Our patch

The borough is a town with a great many villages attached. Alongside Guildford we cover Ash, Ash Vale and Tongham to the west, Worplesdon, Normandy and Pirbright to the north, Merrow, Burpham, Stoughton and Onslow Village around the town edges, Shalford, Chilworth and Albury to the south, and Ripley, Send, Effingham and the Horsleys out to the east.

How we check what we publish

Our reporting comes from named primary sources: Guildford Borough Council’s registers and papers, police.uk crime data, The Gazette, the Food Standards Agency, and Surrey County Council for anything on the roads. Software helps us watch those sources and draft the routine updates, but the facts come from the record and the link to it sits in the story. If a document is unclear, we say that too. The local information pages carry the date we last checked them.

Tell us what we have missed
