The Merrow Lane firm went into creditors' voluntary liquidation on 10 September. It employed eight, and its accounts are 18 months overdue.

A Guildford printing firm that has traded from Merrow for 20 years has gone into liquidation.

Guildford Print Finishers Limited was placed in creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 10 September 2026, according to two notices published in The Gazette on 17 September. Creditors’ voluntary liquidation is the insolvent kind: it is used when a company cannot pay what it owes.

What the notices record:

  • members passed the winding-up resolution at a general meeting convened at short notice and held by video conference on 10 September at 3pm (The Gazette, notice 5212483)
  • Myles Jacobson of MJ Advisory Limited, insolvency practitioner number 11590, was appointed liquidator on the same day, by both members and creditors (The Gazette, notice 5212482)
  • the company’s principal trading address is Unit 3B, Merrow Business Centre, Merrow Lane, Guildford, GU4 7WA
  • its registered office is an agent’s address in Stanmore, Middlesex
  • its registered business is “printing not elsewhere classified”

Print finishing is the stage after the ink: cutting, folding, laminating, binding and finishing printed sheets for other printers and publishers.

What the company’s own accounts show

Guildford Print Finishers was incorporated on 23 June 2006 and is company number 05856456 (Companies House).

Its last filed accounts cover the year to 30 June 2023. They are filleted small-company accounts, so there is no profit and loss account on the public record, but the balance sheet shows:

  • an average of eight employees, the same as the year before
  • net assets of £11,440, up from £12 a year earlier
  • trade debtors of £65,444 and a directors’ loan account of £39,142
  • creditors falling due within a year of £98,426, and £44,723 falling due later
  • plant, machinery and vehicles with a net book value of £44,575

Nothing has been filed since. Accounts for the year to 30 June 2024 were due on 31 March 2025 and are now about 18 months late. A confirmation statement due on 14 March 2026 has not been filed either.

The registrar began compulsory strike-off action in June 2025, suspended it a month later, and discontinued it on 1 April 2026. The company’s two other directors resigned on 26 March 2024, leaving one director, who has held the post since February 2007.

What it means for you

If the company owes you money. Creditors deal with the liquidator, not the company. MJ Advisory gives a contact number of 020 8343 6006 in the Gazette notice. In a creditors’ voluntary liquidation the liquidator realises what assets there are and pays claims in the statutory order, with secured creditors and employees’ preferential claims ahead of ordinary trade creditors.

If you worked there. Employees of an insolvent company can claim redundancy pay, notice pay, holiday pay and unpaid wages from the Insolvency Service’s redundancy payments service, which needs a case reference from the liquidator.

If you had work in progress with them. Contact the liquidator before assuming anything can be collected from the unit. Once a liquidator is appointed, the company’s assets are under their control.

If you want to check any of this yourself. Every document quoted here is public and free. The Gazette notices are at the links above, and the filing history is on Companies House.

This page records only what the statutory notices and the company’s own filings say. The company and the liquidator are both entitled to a reply, and we will publish one here if either of them sends us anything to add or correct.
